All XEN-TAN products produce a beautiful long-lasting tan. Choosing the "right" Xen-Tan product ends up being a personal preference for (1) instant color and (2) "feel" of the product (primarily moisturizing) and (3) application.  The table at the bottom of the page contains a good summary comparison.

DHA - active tanning ingredient    top of page
DHA (dihydroxyacetone) is the active ingredient used in sunless tanning products. It is a sugar molecule that reacts to the amino acids on the surface of the skin. The level of DHA controls how dark and natural the color looks. Too much DHA can lead to a "rusty", irregular look. Too little DHA results in an ineffective tan that fades too quickly. XEN-TAN uses a high level of DHA but is carefully formulated for a dark, natural tan - balanced with moisturizing oils to guarantee a smooth, streak-free application and tan.

XEN-TAN is formulated to generate a natural-looking tan -both the instant color and the developed sunless tan. Many other self-tan products result in an artificial "copper" color that looks unrealistic (ORANGE) on most skin types. The instant color and the active tanning ingredients in XEN-TAN products are carefully-crafted to yield a beautiful natural color - even on the fairest skins.

Fair skin    top of page
It's not "fair" that most self-tan products in the past looked the best on people who already have a tan. XEN-TAN sunless tanning products are formulated to flatter people with even the fairest skins. Technology has improved greatly in the self tan market and we can now produce a very realistic color that makes fair skin look naturally darker. The dark-tanning formulas are actually better for fair skin than lighter-tanning products. For those shy of dark "instant" color but recognize the benefits - try the Dark Mousse which results in the same beautiful dark tan but has a light/sheer instant color.  Xen-Tan is great for fair skinned individuals - you can now enjoy a beautiful tan without the damage of the sun or tanning beds.

Fruit acids in sunless tanners    top of page
Many new sunless tanning products use fruit acids. What do they for you and to you?
Fruit acids help to remove the dead skin cells on the surface of the skin. In self-tanning lotions they can also make your tan work more quickly. Unfortunately, as fast as the tan comes on ... it can wear off. Fruit acids in self-tan products has a drying effect and tend to break up the look of your tan as it fades leaving a freckled appearance. XEN-TAN does not use fruit acids in any of it's tanning products. XEN-TAN formulas work in just three hours and fade naturally like a real tan. The perfect blend of natural oils results in a streak-free application and a smooth, natural-looking tan.

Are you still sleeping in your sunless tanner ?    top of page
Technology has changed rapidly in the world of sunless tanning. What used to take 8 hours now takes just 3!
Because of the time involved in sunless tanning you needed to over night to get the full effect. This is no longer necessary. XEN-TAN sunless tanning products not only develop in 3 hours, the "instant" color allows you to look tan immediately so you can look better on your way out of the house. Many of our customers use the Dark Mist as a quick fix before going to the gym to make muscles look more defined and skin more toned and tan. Just wait three hours before showering an you have a long-wearing dark self tan. You can still sleep in you self tan lotion, mousse or spray if it is easier for you but because of XEN-TAN's great scent and lighter texture tanning during the day is now an option.

How do I apply it to my back ?    top of page
Do you live alone and wonder how you are ever going to get self tan applied to your back?
Some of our customers use plastic wrap - take a piece of Saran wrap about a foot and a half long. Fold it the long way until you have a strip about 1 1/2 inches wide. Apply Mousse, Lotion or Tan Extender to the strip and using both hands smooth it across your back. If you use Mist, just fold the strip and then spray mist onto your back and smooth it in using the strip. Even if your back doesn't look perfectly smooth don't worry - as long as you have totally skipped a spot, XEN-TAN will come out even when it develops.
